Take pizza night to the next level with this luxurious gourmet creation featuring dried morel mushrooms. Their nutty, earthy flavor pairs beautifully with creamy cheese and savory toppings, making this pizza a true delicacy. Perfect for special occasions or anytime you want to impress!
Which ingredients do you need?
- 20 g dried morel mushrooms
- 100 ml warm water (for soaking mushrooms)
- 1 pre-made pizza dough or base
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 100 g mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 50 g fontina cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- Fresh thyme leaves, to taste
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: A drizzle of truffle oil for serving
How do you make this dish?
- Soak the dried morel mushrooms in warm water for 20 minutes. Drain, reserving the soaking liquid, and gently pat the mushrooms dry with a paper towel. Slice the larger mushrooms in half.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- In a small bowl, mix olive oil with minced garlic. Brush this mixture evenly over the pizza dough.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and fontina cheese evenly over the base. Arrange the morel mushrooms and red onion slices on top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and a few fresh thyme leaves.
- Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Remove from the oven and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. For an extra touch of luxury, drizzle with truffle oil before serving.
TIP This pizza pairs wonderfully with a glass of crisp white wine, such as a Sauvignon Blanc, to complement the earthy richness of the morels.
